# Project Owner Accounts

Project owner accounts represent the entities which govern over projects that have the ability to generate carbon credits (e.g. carbon credit batches). Project owners can propose projects, carbon credit batches and trade with carbon credits.

These entities are subjugated to penalizations and it is worth noting that their total penalization is depended on the specific action which they are performing (more on penalization rules). 

Apart from generating profits from the direct sale of carbon credits, project owners also gain a percentage on the secondary sale of carbon credits, that is when a third entity trades some credits that belongs to the project owner.
