# Carbon Footprint Accounts

Carbon Footprint Accounts (or **CFAs** for short) are accounts that are associated to entities which can retire their carbon credits in order to decrease their carbon footprint. An example of a **CFA** would the that of a oil industry that wants to interact with the Veles pallet.

**CFAs** are the only entities on the pallet which are allowed to retire carbon credits. The also are not subjugated to penalizations as there is not a way in which they can maliciously influence the marketplace.
